Where in Tucson can you network with other local professionals while enjoying live performances, art, dancing, music, drinks and hors d’ oeuvres—plus an unforgettable fondue bar? It’s the latest edition of First Fridays, this March 5, 2009, from 8 to 12pm, celebrating ‘60s pop art icon Andy Warhol’s work, which will be featured this month at the Tucson Museum of Art. Recently voted as 2010′s “Best People and Organization” by Tucson Lifestyle Magazine, First Fridays’ “Andy Warhol—POP Art” at the Tucson Museum of Art is your chance to get your own 15 minutes of fame with Tucson’s most important movers and shakers!

Event Details:

The 24th edition of First Fridays, this March 5, 2009, from 8 to 12 pm, will showcase the best that downtown Tucson has to offer, while providing the opportunity for adults of all ages to network and socialize in a unique atmosphere. The evening begins with a special community event as local organizations Tucson Digital Arts Community (TDAC) and the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP)compete in an interactive “CANNED ART EXTRAVANGANZA” fundraiser for the Tucson Community Food Bank. Each group will be challenged to create a piece of art inspired by Andy Warhol, using canned goods donated by guests. Bring three cans to donate for the event and receive $5 off admission, then watch as these artist go to work! This “CANNED ART EXTRAVANGANZA” event will kick off a night full of activities inspired by the current Andy Warhol Portfolios: Life & Legends exhibit at the Tucson Museum of Art.

The main festivities get started at 9 p.m. and continue through midnight. In celebration of the “Andy Warhol—POP Art” theme, a DJ will get the dance floor hopping inside while a local live band provided by Tucson Rock Alliance will perform in the Tucson Museum of Art’s spacious outdoor courtyard. Throughout the night, the main gallery will be showcasing original prints from Warhol’s collection, including portraits of Muhammad Ali, Marilyn Monroe and a Campbell Soup series. The combination of live performances, art, dancing, music, drinks and hors d’ouevres—and an unforgettable fondue bar presented from Café al La Carte—will make for a truly unforgettable evening, leaving you anticipating the next First Fridays event.

First Fridays is Tucson’s most dynamic monthly networking social fundraiser, combining local business with the latest in pop culture, art, music and charity. This monthly fundraiser benefits the non-profit Tucson Young Professionals, a group of business and community leaders focused on the promotion, attraction and retention of young professionals in Tucson area.
