Community Storytelling Arts

Community Storytelling Arts will be teaching digital storytelling workshops on a regular basis. All workshops are four full days from 9 AM - 5 PM. Workshop participants share stories, write and record narration, choose photos, video clips, and music, and learn to edit a short digital video of their own true story. These stories can be used for personal enrichment, family life histories, community and team building, training, advocacy, recruiting, fundraising and technology literacy. At the end of your four-day workshop you will have a 3-5 minute digital story. Participants are given materials prior to the workshop to assist them in preparation, including important resources, reading, and suggestions for story ideas, images, and use of video clips. The workshop is $495 per person. Registration is limited to 10 participants per workshop.

Location: El Centro Cultural de las Americas, 40 W. Broadway, Tucson, AZ. Parking is available across the street from El Centro.

Workshop dates: June 17-20, 2008; October 7-10, 2008; and December 3-6, 2008

June 19th Meet-up at Dinnerware

June 19, 2008
7:00 pmto10:00 pm

The June Tucson Digital Arts Community meet-up will take place at the Dinnerware gallery in downtown Tucson.

Come on by between 7pm and 9pm

DINNERWARE artspace
264 e. congress street
Tucson, arizona 85701

Dinnerware is starting a new event called IGNITE TUCSON (see description below) and they’d like to test it out with some tech savvy folks, i.e. TDAC members!  The IGNITE format (it was started in Portland) was inspired by presentations at high tech companies. The idea is to get information out in a quick and dynamic way. Anyone up for putting together an Ignite 5-minute presentation for the June 19th meetup??

What is “IGNITE TUCSON” ?

What if you had an innovative topic to talk about and you had 5 minutes to talk about it in front of an audience.

To make your talk more visual, what if you had selected 20 images beforehand, running 15 seconds on a timer projected on a big screen behind you?

What would you say?
Where would you take your audience?

Presentations must:

  • Be no longer than 5 minutes.
  • Be on an innovative topic.
  • Be on a CD or DVD ready to run on a Macintosh.

Here’s a link to a few good examples from Ignite Seattle, Ignite Portland, and Ignite Boston:
